I've been interested in the United States, and it has been my dream since I was child. Although I have wanted to go to America, but I didn't expect that my dream becomes true. After I was selected as one of delegation students, my longing for America became stronger.

The day when we will start is coming up; my anxiety became larger and larger. Actually when I arrived in the America, I think that my anxiety was stronger rather than expectation. At first I could not talk something in English and communicate very well. However, host family and some students spoke to me gently. They didn't show unpleasant attitude, and they taught me until I understood. Suddenly saying that we wanted to do something together, my host family did to and from and made a meal for us.

Michiru's familyI know round -up festival is supported by the whole people in Pendleton. Even if compare Round-up with Nomaoi as the same festival, I think Pendleton people are more proud of festival and the scale of the round-up is completely different from Nomaoi and very large. While I was staying in America, I discovered it is not important for us to study English, it is important for us to speak English.

I learned that we should love our country more as Americans love their country. When I stayed in America sometimes I missed Japan. My experience went to America reminded me good points of Japan. I learned to respect another country too. Pendleton high school students are very proud of their country but they said they love Japan too. I was very glad to hear that. I had very happy days for 17 days to able to touch the warmth and kindness of Americans.
